Back to the Future by Irina Werning is the ultimate "now and then" photographic projects. She recreated family snapshot photographing the same people 20, 25 years after, dressed and posing in the same way. The result is an outstanding re-staging of the original snapshots, an incredible attention to every single detail, whether it is the clothing of the people in the photographs - often growing in size together with them throughout the years - or the way they pose. And there is also Werning's ability in recreating the exact photographic flavour of the original snapshot, producing a collection of all kinds of family album photographs, from colour snapshots to studio portraits, polaroids, college yearbooks and so on.

Do not miss the rest of Werning's work, there's a lot to find. Take The Chini Project, for example: a whole project devoted to one Chinese Crested Dog in funny situations. And it works. When was the last time some photography gave you a decent laugh, after all? Comedy has always been the most difficult thing.

Back to the Future di Irina Werning è il lavoro fotografico definitivo sul tema del "come eravamo": dittici che presentano istantanee prese da album di famiglia accanto alla ricreazione delle fotografie con le stesse persone, 20 e più anni dopo. Il tutto con un'attenzione ridicola al minimo dettaglio, che si tratti dei vestiti che indossano (che spesso crescono con le persone con gli anni) o delle loro pose. In più c'è la cura messa nel ricreare il sapore fotografico di ognuna delle istantanee utilizzate, ricreando ogni tipo di scatto familiare, dalle snapshot a colori ai ritratti in studio, dalle polaroid all'annuario del college, e così via.

Non perdetevi il resto dei lavori di Irina. The Chini Project, per esempio, un intero progetto dedicato a un cane nudo cinese messo in buffe situazioni. E funziona. Qunad'è stata l'ultima volta che un lavoro fotografico vi ha fatto ridere? La commedia è sempre stata la cosa più difficile da fare.
