What I like about the work of Mieke Woestenburg is that it doesn't present itself as an accessible and immediately satisfying display of beauty, the images are more like riddles to solve, pieces to compose together, pages taken from some kind of studies. Slowly our eyes start to see new things, new stories, new possibilities.
Simplicity is not necessarily something self-evident, or immediate, simplicity can also be the gift we find inside an image only after we've given it enough time to disclose.

I discovered Woestenburg's photography while I was flipping through the pages of some issues of Fw: Magazine, one of the several publishing/curatorial/photographic/graphic design adventures of the Dutch creative photo-oriented platform Fw:.

Quello che mi piace del lavoro di Mieke Woestenburg è il fatto che non si presenta come un esempio di bellezza immediatamente accessibile, le immagini sembrano più enigmi da risolvere, piccoli pezzi da unire insieme, pagine prese da qualche remoto studio di cui non conosciamo l'oggetto. Poi lentamente cominciamo a vedere nuove cose, nuove storie, altre possibilità.
La semplicità non è per forza qualcosa di evidente o immediato, la semplicità può essere un dono che troviamo solo dopo aver dedicato abbastanza tempo ad attendere che ci si riveli.

Ho scoperto Woestenburg sfogliando alcuni numeri di Fw: Magazine, uno dei tanti progetti editoriali/curatoriali/fotografici della piattaforma olandese Fw:.
