Horizons - Grotta #2, 2009

Andrea Botto has recently launched his brand new website, where it is now possible to view galleries from all his projects, spreads from his publications and also read many texts. His images acknowledge the legacy of all the Italian landscape photography behind our shoulders, and still seem to me with one foot towards new territories, new visions, trying to reach new and different landscapes.

"Rather than landscape I prefer to talk of territory or place, words which perhaps best express the complexity of what we find in front of us. Photography represents a section, a cross section at a precise point in history, which can lay bare its stratifications".

Andrea Botto ha da poco inaugurato il suo nuovo sito, dove è ora possibile vedere gallerie tratte da tutti i suoi progetti, estratti dalle sue molte pubblicazioni e leggere diversi testi attorno alle immagini e alla fotografia in generale. I suoi lavori sicuramente ripartono dalla tradizione e l'eredità della fotografia italiana di paesaggio che ci precede, ma al tempo stesso esprimono la voglia di cercare nuovi territori, nuove visioni, nuovi e differenti paesaggi.

"Più che di paesaggio, mi piace parlare di territorio o luogo, parole che forse meglio esprimono la complessità di ciò che ci troviamo davanti. La fotografia rappresenta una sezione, uno spaccato in un preciso punto della storia, che ne può mettere a nudo le stratificazioni".
