La notte di Napoli

I lavori recenti (ma anche gli unici di cui son riuscito a trovare traccia su Internet - vecchio vizio di tanti fotografi italiani, negarsi alla rete...) del fotografo e architetto Alessandro Cimmino (dall'homepage della galleria andate su 'artisti' - qui una gallery con riproduzioni migliori) indagano il paesaggio urbano nelle sue forme, ma soprattutto in quello che si nasconde e si annida in esse: il paesaggio di Napoli e i segni lasciati su di esso dalla criminalità organizzata (May Day), la geometria assoluta di spazi urbani virtuali (Matrix - e qui viene in mente l'amico Fabiano Busdraghi e i suoi edifici infiniti), infine i frammenti video delle telecamere di sorveglianza (CCTV - la serie che personalmente trovo meno interessante, forse un eccesso di approccio concettuale a discapito della forza visiva degli altri lavori).

The recent works of photographer and architect Alessandro Cimmino (go to 'artists' from the gallery's homepage - some images with a better resolution here) explore the shapes of the urban landscape, but most of all they raise the question of what is hiding inside it: the landscape of Naples and the wounds left by the organized crime on it (May Day), the absolute geometry of virtual urban spaces (Matrix, which reminded me of the infinite buildings by Fabiano Busdraghi) and a sequence of fragments from security cameras (CCTV - which I find less interesting, perhaps for its conceptual approach taking the place of the visual strength of the other works).
