Dispatches, trimestrale dedicato all’analisi dei più cruciali temi del nostro tempo, vuole andare oltre il ‘cosa’ e il ‘chi’ per giungere ai ben più importanti ‘perché’ e ‘cosa può esser fatto?’ Scrittori e fotografi vanno al cuore della realtà per riflettere su ciò che vedono, liberi da pressioni editoriali o costrizioni dettate dal mercato. Informazione affidabile e analisi vengono collocate in un reale contesto umano e in una dimensione storica".

Così recita il mission statement di Dispatches, una nuova rivista fondata da Gary Knight, uno dei fondatori dell’agenzia fotografica VII, dal giornalista e scrittore Mort Rosenblum e da Simba Gill, fondatore della casa farmaceutica moksha8. Il primo numero, uscito nel giugno 2008 è intitolato In America, con un photo-essay di Antonin Kratotchvil, compagno di Knight presso VII, In God’s Country; il secondo numero , in uscita, è dedicato alla guerra in Iraq, con immagini di Yuri Kozyrev, fotografo dell’agenzia Noor.

This is an excerpt of the mission statement of Dispatches, a new magazine founded by photographer Gary Knight, also one of the cofounder of VII photo agency, with writer and journalist Mort Rosenblum and Simba Gill, founder of the pharmaceutical company moksha8. The first issue, In America, was released on June 2008, with a photo-essay by fellow VII photographer Antonin Kratotchvil, In God’s Country; the second issue, out soon, will be about the war in Iraq, with photographs by Noor photographer Yuri Kozyrev.
