Guardami negli occhi

È piuttosto difficile incontrare un lavoro sul nudo dove l’immagine non si limiti a suggerire semplicemente di guardare il soggetto (l’oggetto?). Echo, il libro di nudi femminili del fotografo birmano Chan Chao, è decisamente un’eccezione: le sue immagini femminili hanno una presenza che lascia con la sensazione di essere guardati, piuttosto che di osservare a nostro piacimento.

Chan Chao inoltre nel 2003 ha pubblicato il libro Burma: something went wrong, una collezione di ritratti di esuli birmani lungo i confini del paese (ora Myanmar), fuggiti dopo l’avvento della dittatura militare.

It is quite difficult to find a photographic work of nude where the images go beyond the mere invitation to look at the subject (the object?). Echo, the book of female nudes by Burmese photograher Chan Chao is quite an exception: his images of women hold such a presence they leave you with the feeling of being looked at by them rather than watching on your own.
